This is Fiene (24), a newly qualified physiotherapist from Belgium. In January 2024, she moved to Zurich, where she now works at Physiozentrum in Zurich Enge. For Fiene, who had just finished her studies in Ghent, the adventure in Switzerland was a logical choice: a challenging work environment, impressive nature, and yet close to home.

Working abroad has always been on Fiene's list, and Switzerland proved to be the perfect fit. “The nature here is beautiful, it's not far from Belgium, and the higher salary gives me the freedom to do fun things and save,” she explains. At Physiozentrum, she quickly found her way. “My German improved by leaps and bounds and I feel completely at home. The team is great and the collaboration works really well.”
Fiene is also enjoying her free time in Zurich to the fullest. Now that summer has arrived, she discovers new activities in the city and beyond every weekend. Swimming in the river, hiking in the mountains, or just relaxing by the lake: it all feels like a dream.

One of the biggest advantages of living and working in Switzerland? “The administration here is really minimal, so I have more free time,” says Fiene. In addition, Swiss nature continues to surprise her time and time again. “The mountains are so close that I can spontaneously decide to go out. And public transport is always on time, which makes everything so much easier!”

For other adventurous physiotherapists, Fiene has a practical tip: “Join a community or a sports group. I've made so many new friends since joining a running club in the city. It's the perfect way to integrate and stay active.”
