September is once again full of takeoff activities and Swiss traditions. We're organizing our community weekend in Tessin, you can experience the famous Alpabzug and the mountains are beautiful for autumn walks. Ready for what to do this month?

Community weekend in Tessin: save the date!

From September 19 to 21, 2025 we pull with the whole takeoff community to Tessin. This region combines Swiss mountains with Italian vibes. We booked a luxury villa with amazing views and plenty of space for everyone.

You set your own pace this weekend. Hike into the mountains, cycle along the lake or explore the city with its Mediterranean terraces. Or stay at the villa with a good book.

  • Friday night we kick off with a joint dinner where you meet everyone.
  • Saturday there are optional activities on the program, ending with a drink where the stories explode.
  • Sunday you can finish the weekend the way you want: with a last dip in the lake, a cappuccino in the city or a quiet morning in the villa.

This weekend is about connection, freedom and, above all, enjoying yourself with other adventurous physios.

The Alpabzug: cows, cheese and culture

The Alpabzug is a Swiss tradition where decorated cows return from the mountain pastures to the valley. Happens every year between mid-September and early October. The cows carry flowers and big bells, and the whole village comes together for a party with markets, traditional music, and local delicacies.

Where should you be?

The best places to experience the Alpabzug:

  • Grächen in Wallis: small village, grand atmosphere
  • Charmey in Fribourg: authentic and cozy
  • Gais in Appenzell: tradition at its best

The party is more than just watching cows. Local markets sell cheese, sausages and other regional products. Kids run after the cows. And you're in the middle of it with a glass of local wine.

Pro tip from us: combine the Alpabzug with a morning walk. First the peace of the mountains, then the party in the valley.

Autumn walks: our top 3

Nature turns orange and gold in September, and the temperatures are perfect for going out. Not too hot, not too cold, so ideal hiking weather.

Our recommendations:
  1. Oeschinensee (Bernese Oberland) This lake is always beautiful, but in September the larches turn golden yellow and reflect in the crystal clear water. The cable car takes you up, then it's an easy walk to the lake. Bring lunch for a picnic on the shore.
  2. Zugerberg (Zug) Perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. This walk is not too hard but the view over Lake Zug and the Alps is spectacular. Bonus: multiple mountain restaurants along the way for a well-deserved break.
  3. Valle Verzasca (Ticino) Here you can mix Swiss mountains with Mediterranean warmth. The chestnut forests are beautiful and the temperature stays pleasant here for longer. Walk through the valley or discover the peaceful trails around Locarno.
What do you bring?
  • Good walking shoes (mornings can be wet with dew)
  • Extra layer of clothing for when the sun disappears behind the mountains
  • Thermos bottle with hot tea or coffee for that perfect break
  • Camera for those autumn colors
