5 reasons why takeoff is more than a recruitment agency

Moving to Switzerland as a physiotherapist sounds fantastic, with a higher salary and the mountains on your doorstep. But before you get there, you need to find a job, get your diploma recognised, find a place to live and start feeling at home.

‍

When I moved to Switzerland five years ago, I did it through a different recruitment agency. It wasn't a good experience for me. Looking back, what I realised most was how important it is that someone looks beyond the job and helps you think through everything such a big move involves. That's why we do things differently at takeoff: we help you find work and build your life in Switzerland.

1. You don't move on your own: our community

As takeoff's community manager I may be a little biased, but for me this is the most important part. However beautiful Switzerland is, you only feel at home once you know people there.

‍

That's why we have our own community of physios who already live in Switzerland or want to take the same step. Every month we organise drinks in Zurich, Bern and Lucerne. On top of that there are mountain hikes, city trips and weekends away, like the ski weekend in Grindelwald. In our WhatsApp groups you can ask questions, share experiences or simply find someone to do something fun with.

‍

2. We live and work in Switzerland ourselves

takeoff is based in Lucerne. We live and work in Switzerland ourselves and know from experience what everyday life looks like.

‍

We know the differences between the regions, the Swiss work culture and the things you sometimes run into as a newcomer. If you're looking for a home, or have questions about insurance, transport or your life outside work, we'll think it through with you.

‍

3. We've been through the whole process ourselves

We've taken the same step you're about to take.

‍

We know how nerve-racking it is to apply for jobs in another country, to suddenly speak German with patients and to find your way through all the documents and rules around your SRK recognition.

‍

That's why we recognise the questions that come up along the way. And sometimes you just want to talk to someone who has been through it themselves.

‍

4. We look beyond your new job

Maybe you want to develop your skills in a hospital or rehabilitation centre. Or maybe you're mainly after more free time, a home in the mountains or city life instead.

‍

That's why at takeoff we look beyond your CV and your salary. We look for a workplace that fits the way you want to live: if you want to go climbing after work or walk your dog at lunchtime, that counts too.

‍

5. Personal guidance, at no cost to you

Moving to Switzerland means quite a lot of organising: applications, contracts, your SRK recognition, a home and all kinds of practical matters you may never have thought about.

‍

At takeoff we guide you through all of those steps, starting with the first introductory call. If you come to Switzerland for job interviews and to view homes, we reimburse up to 200 euros of your travel costs. And before you sign, we go through your contract together.

‍

For you as a physiotherapist this guidance is free: your new employer pays for our service.

‍

Perhaps even more important: once you have moved, you can still come to us. Through the team and the community you remain part of takeoff.

‍

More than a new job

After five years I know how special it is to live and work in Switzerland, with work I enjoy, new friends and plenty of time to enjoy the country. That's the life we want to make possible for you with takeoff.
